Love The Lady-bugs

Love The Lady-bugs

So you have some pesky pests on your plants and you want to try something new and natural? LADYBUGS!!!

Even our fairy gardens have these handsome fellows walking around.

Some fun facts:

Ladybugs can have spots OR stripes.

They can be many different colors and can be entirely black.

They are known as "ladybirds" in many regions.

A common myth is that the number of spots indicates their age...NOPE

The best time to release ladybugs is in the evening and while out of direct sunlight. Since ladybugs do not fly at night, this is the best time to release them. This way they will stay in your yard. If the ladybugs find enough food in your yard, they will have a better chance of laying eggs. In two weeks, the eggs will become adults. Each lady bug can devour up to 50 garden pests per day! This means they are good for your garden.

Kelsey in our garden center says "If you don't like spraying all those chemicals on your flowers, this is a more natural way to get rid of those pests." Elise added by saying "plus they are cute!"
