P is for Perennial

P is for Perennial

June is perennial gardening month! All month long we get to plant, celebrate, and enjoy our perennials. Some people pass them bye because they want plants that will flower all summer season long. Although, there are many positive aspects to having perennials.

Let's first look at some pros.

1- They are a good value

2- If you are tired of planting annuals, they are perfect

3-  Less maintenance

4- Less watering

Now let's ask some of our employees what their favorite perennials are and why.

Mike/Nancy= Echinacea - After it flowers Goldfinches perch on the seed heads.

Elise= Bleeding Hearts- They have pretty leaves and the flowers look like little hearts.

Kelsey= Balloon Flower- The bloom is so cool! It's shaped like a balloon.

Kim= Coral Bells- The foliage comes in such pretty colors.

Brienne=Geranium- They bloom most of the summer and are hearty.

Meg= Oriental Poppies- They attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

Dave= Verbena- They actually do sometimes come back and they bloom from April till November.
