Prom Queen

Prom Queen

Have you ever wondered what goes into making a prom wristlet? Well, we are about to take you through the steps of making one, and get some in depth ideas from the Rhoads Garden designers themselves. When you come into the store, we give you many options for your prom flowers. You can either chose one from our many pictures, or even leave it up to a designer. For this example, the customer chose one of our upgraded wristlets and made it "designers choice." The dress was a lilac/lavender color and the customer said "I want something different." Our designer Marianne took this information and immediately started brainstorming.

Let's take you through the steps and into the designers mind.

Step 1: Days before prom the designers prep each order by pulling ribbon, wristbands, and matching gems. They make a bow with the ribbon, and then add it to the wristband. In this case (upgraded wristlet) the wristband was a rhinestone bracelet that the girl could have as a keepsake after prom.

Step 2: The designer adds the desired flowers into the bow. For this example, our designer used Ranunculus, and Craspedia. She thought the yellow would really pop against the customers purple dress. We go for the "WOW" factor.

Step 3: She added some greens into the base to bring another  texture to the wristlet. This also helps create the look.

Step 4: She added some purple Alstromeria to match the dress, and even included some gems and upgraded silver leaves. The last step allows the designer to really "jazz it up." This is the finished result, what a beauty.

Most customers choose white roses and colored ribbon, but designers really love being able to take advantage of all the flower colors out there. Floral manager Renee was quoted saying "we really love being able to utilize the color wheel and choose coordinating colors to offset the gown color best." When asked what her favorite color combo for prom flowers is Renee said yellow and peach. Let's see what some of our other designers picked.

Mary- Fuschia, purple, coral or orange

Karen- Hot pink, orange, and green

Tara- Coral and all shades of orange

Pam- Coral, peach, and lavender

Marianne- Hot pink, green, and shades of orange
